21st Century Girl

She had free verse eyes in a metronome face
Searching for stability somehow misplaced
Mother to the notion of a human race
That went on and on and on and on and on...

With waterlogged lips beneath a ski-slope nose
She conquered nonconformances whenever they arose
Tackling transgressions in a swimsuit pose
That went on and on and on and on and on...

   She outlasted
   She got blasted
   Giving headwinds
   Tornado tailspins
   She launched rockets
   With steel-tipped sockets
And she slipped loose from the atmosphere
   Destination Alpha Station

Olympus Mons, Tranquility Base
Jupiter's Spot and the Martian Face
She's in an intergalactic relativity race
That goes on and on and on and on and on...

With her starlight skin and her comet hair
She never read my email that said "Please take care."
Now she's spurting fire in a full-on flare
That goes on and on and on and on and on...

   She outlasted
   She got blasted
   Giving headwinds
   Tornado tailspins
   Intercept missles
Hey boy that tickles (she said)
As she slipped loose from the atmosphere
   Destination Alpha Station
