Followed You Down

Your eyes said what my heart couldn't say
I said don't throw this all away
You cried then you left
And I prayed to god
Then I followed you down

That damp southern day turned to night
To a cold flat coal black night
You didn't even put up a fight
When you saw that I'd followed you down

I couldn't see what you saw
Or feel the ice starting to thaw
A gun shot was all
That I heard when I followed you down
I followed you down
I followed you down
I followed you

Apparently asleep on the floor
He didn't move anymore
Blood as thick as oil
When I followed you down
I followed you down
I followed you down
I followed you down
I followed you down
I followed you down
I followed you down
I followed you down
I followed you down
You swallowed me down down down
And I painted this town
A slighter shade of brown
