The Man Who Slipped Through The Skylight
(And Got Lost In The Void)

See him walking round the building
With a crumpled withered hand
Making peace with all the children
He's the open-hearted man
He's the lonely only man

See the lights down on the boardwalk
See them twinkling on the sand
Feel the freshnin' of the tradewinds
Hold the stars within your hand
  (breath 'em, be 'em)
Hold them still within your hand

She lies stretched upon the table
He sits calm in his chair
   The dinner goes uneaten
   Between their silver coated stare
She lifts him through the skylight
Where he reaches for the moon
She warns "Don't stay up forever"
   Soon the colors turn maroon

A pistol for the old ones
And a scar to rape the land
See him walking round the building
He's the open-hearted man (you know him)
He's the lonely only man
He's the lonely only man
